Miami SwimShow: Bursting with Novelties

05 July 2019

The 37th annual SwimShow – heralded as the world’s largest – returns to Miami Beach Convention Center July 13-16, armed with an updated layout, fresh programming, and the curated selection of brands that buyers and visitors have come to count on. This year the event also launches Nu Wave Swim from July 11-14, in a tropical oasis constructed within the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. With so many upgrades and amenities forthcoming - which The Best of Swim will also be on-site to observe- we caught up with Executive Director Judy Stein to learn more.

What can we expect from this summer’s edition? Do you have anything new planned? The convention center is finally renovated so the entire layout of the tradeshow is new and exciting! We’re of course adding our decorative touches with two food halls, multiple seating areas, a Luxe Lounge with hair stations, mini facials and massages, our DJ and so much more! The newest addition to SwimShow is the introduction of Nu Wave Swim, an experiential multi-day platform from established brands to young designers to showcase their latest swim collections. There will be wellness activations, runway shows, fashion presentations, cocktail parties, after-parties and more held in the lush Botanical Garden steps away from the convention center.
How many brands are exhibiting this year? How does this compare to last year? There are over 2,500 lines exhibiting this year; we continue to sell out each year and still present only the best curated brands in the industry.
What interesting newcomers should we look out for? Lily & Rose, Room 24, Sheriff & Cherry, Feather & Find, 209 Mare, Granadilla, Johnny Was, Shore, Carolina Socias, Sal de Pipa, SWIMS, Malmok, Power 2 The Flower, and Zadig & Voltaire, just to name a few.

What is your feeling on the current state of the swim market? Swimwear continues to be a strong industry. The consumer is looking for fashion to take them from a day at the beach to an evening of cocktails and dinner, and designers are delivering. There are a lot of new, young, designers entering the industry which keeps the excitement and energy level high.
How does your event stand out compared to others? What are your guiding values? Our #1 priority is customer service. We always go above and beyond to make everyone feel that their needs are our most important task. With that in mind, we keep the tradeshow fresh and fun by always adding new activations like our professional photoshoot area for exhibitors to grab a few quick shots or our Luxe Lounge featuring massages, mini facials and a hair bar.
What 3 keywords best describe your event? Established, engaging, trend-setting.
