On March 1st, Mise en Cage moved from its apartment-boutique in a residential Parisian neighborhood to the heart of south Pigalle, the city's historic red-light district and home to the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret, located at the foot of Montmartre. Mise en Cage's owner and Creative Director, Florence Abelin, welcomes customers into this new multi-brand flagship designed in the style of a typical Parisian artist's atelier. The interiors are clean-lined and minimalist. The slightly industrial ambiance is warmed through the use of rose-colored designer chairs, which recall the world of lingerie, while suspended display racks made from flesh-toned, vegan leather convey the bondage scene. The 2-story boutique features white or exposed-brick walls, concrete flooring, and wood displays on the ground level, with its 1950s flair, while the first floor boasts white-tile walls, light-colored parquet, a glass-enclosed atelier, and a spacious dressing room, which is large enough to allow couples to try on lingerie in total privacy. There is also a cage-style chair designed by the French artisan, Anouchka Potdevin. The store stocks its own Mise en Cage line, as well as couture lingerie brands that are distinguished by strong architectural shapes and high-quality materials. Luxury erotic accessories by international emerging designers are also sold.
