Monte Carlo Fashion Week: Where Fashion Meets Celebrity

30 June 2016

The 4th edition of Monte Carlo Fashion Week (MCFW) took place from June 2-4, organized by Monaco's Chamber of Commerce, the national government, the city of Monte Carlo, and the Tourism Office.

Three days of fashion shows, conferences and networking put the spotlight on Monegasque fashion, thanks to the active participation of local organizations. Fashion Week kicked off at the Café de Paris, with a symposium on the Evolution of Global Fashion Retailing moderated by David Jais, and organized in partnership with Sistema Moda Italia (SMI). The conference featured: Yingting Chen (Istituto Marangoni Paris), Magali Ginsburg (VFA, Victoire Fashion Agency), Alessandra Guffanti (President, SMI), Lorenzo Glavici (MFI, Milano Fashion Institute), Nicolas Kenedi (L’Agence Française), and Annabelle Gauberti (Crefovi). Next up was a Round Table moderated by Muriel Plasier, featuring a prestigious panel of international buyers including: Claudio Betti, Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Fashion Buyers, Mathilde de Saint Anthost (Lambert & Associates Group, Paris), Song Pham (10 Lines Buying Office, Hong Kong) and Irina Goudkova (President of International Fashion Diffusion, IFD, e Ambassador of the Monegasque Chamber of Fashion). A showroom was set up for the occasion featuring a carefully curated selection of jewelry and accessories brands.
The MCFW Awards ceremony, honoring key figures from the fashion industry, was the highlight of the second day. Guest of honor Charlene, Princess of Monaco, presented an award to German luxury designer Philipp Plein, who has strong ties to the principality, having opened his first monobrand boutique here. Reality-show star, Victoria Silvstedt handed out the special MCFW Ethical Fashion Brand Award to Stella Jean, as well as the MCFW Career Award to Italian photographer, Giovanni Gastel. On June 3-4, the Oceanographic Museum hosted a series of fashion shows featuring the summer collections of local and international brands, opened by Grinko's sport couture line. There was also a fashion show highlighting student work from the l'Istituto Marangoni de Paris, presented before top model Tanya Dyagileva. Intima Media Group has been a media partner for MCFW since its creation. Its magazines are found at the heart of the event, reaffirming the Group's commitment as partner to the Monegasque Chamber of Fashion.
