Introducing her first Autumn/Winter collection last September, Britney Spears made a special appearance at the exclusive invitation-only The Intimate Britney Spears launch event, held at the in New York City’s Public Library, where she unveiled ten lines of romantic lingerie and sleepwear. Her affordable collections, priced from US$17-US$79, will be available to buy in the United States and Canada as well as across Europe. They comprise an array of feminine lingerie sets in A-J cup sizes, kimonos and vintage-inspired bustiers, but also comfortable loungewear including camisole tops, shorts and sweat pants. “Every woman should feel confident and beautiful in everything she puts on”, says Britney. Particular attention has been paid to the finer details, with embellished shoulder straps, touches of crochet, lace trims and delicate satin ribbons. The Best of Intima spoke to Britney to find out what she loves about lingerie…

How would you describe yourself as a woman?
I think confidence is the most beautiful characteristic a woman can have. It’s really important to me to feel confident and beautiful every day, whether I’m running around with my boys, working out, or performing.
What place does lingerie have in your own wardrobe?
It’s such an important part of getting dressed every day. You want to be comfortable but also feel and look your best, so it’s about finding that balance.
How do you choose your lingerie pieces?
It’s all about how I feel and whether it’s time to be casual or dressy.
Where do you prefer to shop for your lingerie?
A few years ago I went into a lingerie store in Europe, and they had the most amazing pieces of sleepwear and lingerie I had ever seen. It inspired me to make my own collection come to life.
Is there a shape or style you prefer to any other?
It really depends on my mood.
Your favorite color for lingerie?
I love soft, romantic colors, but bold and sexy reds and blacks are also fun too.
What is your favorite item from the Intimate Britney Spears?
I love everything in the Buttercup line.
